Description

Staffworks Group is seeking a Tool Room Technician (Machinist) responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating both manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, and precision components. This role supports production by ensuring tooling accuracy, quality, and minimal downtime.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in precision machining and can work with tight tolerances while interpreting technical drawings and supporting continuous production needs.

2nd Shift

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and adjust manual and CNC machine tools
  • Manufacture, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, dies, jigs, and gauges
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
  • Hold tight tolerances (±.0005” or as required)
  • Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools
  • Prove out CNC programs, set offsets, and adjust tooling as needed
  • Ensure tooling accuracy and support production uptime and efficiency
  • Work with tool steels, heat treating processes, and surface finishes
Required Skills
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Proficiency in manual machining (essential for tool room work)
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and surface finishing processes

Required Experience
  • 3–7+ years of experience in a tool room or precision machining environment
  • Experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes
  • Ability to prove out programs, set machine offsets, and adjust tooling
  • Experience manufacturing and repairing fixtures, dies, jigs, and specialized tooling
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
