The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), located in Cambridge, MA, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to collaborate with engineering staff in the design, assembly, and integration of optical instruments for both ground- and space-based astrophysical research. This position requires CNC machining expertise, including proficiency in multi-axis CNC operation. The selected candidate will also receive training in quality assurance (QA) and mechanical assembly procedures for both flight and ground-based missions.
